So this past week we learned a little about social networking. Now I'm not completely new to it since I've been using sites like facebook and myspace for years. Yet I don't think until now I've realized to what extent the idea can really connect people. For example like in the class video that I have posted above I never realized the power that can be had from sites like these for the fact that they can uncover hidden connections between people, which can be great professionally. So a site like linked in within the proper venues seems to me that it could prove to be an invaluable tool. For example if you have friended the right people in linked in it could make it much easier to get the job you want. I've also realized how different forms of social networking greatly facilitate the exchange of information. For example social bookmarking. First off I really like the idea of a set of bookmarks that you can bascially always take around with you, no matter what computer you're on. It's also a great utility because it's another venue that can bring people together over common ground. I'm also a fan of how easy each one of these things were to set up and use. Pretty much if you know how to use your facebook account, you'll get adjusted to linkedin in no time, and diigo is very straightforward
